I ate like poop today
Three kolaches, a couple of donut holes (from Howdy Donut) and a fish and shrimp plate from Terry’s.
I’m going to try to make up for it at the trail after work. Right after I take a massive dumparoo. My stomach is churning.

Today they had a lunchtime gospel concert at my job as a part of the general MLK celebration. I don’t know what it is, but when I hear that oldtime gospel music, my allergies always start acting up. (Yes, I know I’m a big wuss who will cry for any reason.) Today was no exception. It would’ve been pretty embarrassing to have the waterworks come out in front of all my co-workers, but I have a feeling that they wouldn’t have minded. And it wasn’t even like it was sad music - it was the usual uplifting stuff. I guess some would say that this shows that I don’t have enough of the Lord in my life.
Once every few months, I try to go Stubbs Gospel Brunch to try and get my “God fix”. It always feels so good, combining two of my loves: urban gospel music and stuffing food into my fat face. I suppose that I could get this feeling every weekend or whatever, but I prefer have my God-intake come in small doses.
Some people ask why I don’t go to Church and I always tell them that 12 years of private school burned me out on Mass. That’s probably not at all true - I think it has way more to do with the fact that I’m incredibly lazy.
I’m going to have to start making regular appearances at Church, though. Mary Alice insists that we baptize Marcelina soon and the only way I’ll feel good about that is if we dive headfirst into full religion mode.

As many of you know, I am somewhat poor for a person of my vast intellectual capacity. I know a lot of that has to do with the fact that I buy untold amounts of footwear and soccer apparel, but I prefer to look at those as essential needs. I have curbed those purchases lately, though.
I’m talking about La Fuente’s, which is one of the hardest places to find in all of Austin. Seriously, it’s on Circle S Road, but I think on both ends of the road, there are Do Not Enter signs. It’s a tad confusing.
I haven’t been there in awhile - I think the last time was with Joe & Sally and I think Amy went, too. I remember we got there about 9, and the staff looked kind of pissed that we were there so “late”, but the freaking sign on the door said they closed at 10:00. Anyway, the food is good, but I didn’t see John Kelso.
I can’t find any pictures, but we also went to dinner there after my nephew’s baptism. Maybe I’ll update this if I come across those pics. But probably not.

Last night, I went and had dinner at The Salt Lick with a few members of the UniWatch Nation and Paul Lukas, esteemed writer and founder and main contributer to the UniWatch Blog. It was cool that I was able to meet Paul - I had read most of his uniform-related stuff since his days at Slate and I’ve exchanged a few emails with him. For what it’s worth, I’m also a charter member of the UniWatch Nation, so you know I take this stuff way to seriously.

Last night, Mary Alice, Marcelina and I went to La Feria on South Lamar with Joe & Sally. To my best recollection, I had never been to the place, and I had a gift certificate that I was waiting to burn from Restaurant.com. It was a $25 one, and usually they are regularly $10, but I was able to get it for $3 or $4, due to a coupon from their mailing list. I would highly recommend getting on that mailing list. Coupons galore, baby! (more…)
